A Bitter Pill? Finding the RIGHT Graphics Tablet.
As you are no doubt aware, there are good graphics tablets on the market… and bad ones. Ultimately of course, it all comes down to the type of work you are actually planning to do with yours. However, if you are intent on using it to create pictures with masses of intricate detail then take my word for it; you need to do some serious planning and shopping around before you buy!

A decent graphics tablet doesn’t come cheap, so you need to be pretty sure you are getting the right one first time around. After all, it may not fit into your art box very easily, but it will prove to be just as important as your Rotring pen or your Faber Castell oil pastels! Of course, any graphics tablet will take a bit of getting used to initially, but perseverance will reward you with some very impressive results.

There is no magical way of finding a graphics tablet that is totally ideal for you. However it is certainly possible to narrow things down before you set out on your search. The two most important factors to bear in mind are –
1 – Sticking with the Well-Known Makes.
You may be able to pick up a graphics tablet by a cheapo brand for a much lower price, but the chances are that it will leave quite a bit to be desired in the old %u2018Performance Department’. And with equipment like this, it is always worth paying that little bit extra… otherwise you could very likely be kicking yourself in a few weeks'time.
2 – Do Your Homework.
Although it may sound about as exciting as studying human resource software, carrying out a little online research can be very worthwhile indeed. Read up on what other artists have to say about their graphics tablets. You can learn a great deal by doing this and it may well help to point you in the right direction when you begin browsing the electrical stores.
